Word was received this morning in this city from Mrs. Lant Long announcing the death last night of her son, Charles Long at Phoenix, AZ of tuberculosis. Mr. Long was taken sick early last spring and since that time has rapidly failed in health. He spent a season in Colorado and after returning, finally concluded to try the climate of AZ as a last hope, having gone there but a short time before his death. His mother was with him at the time of his death. The body will be brought to this city next Wednesday for burial. Charles M. Long wa the oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Lant Long and was 31 years old at the time of his death. He was married June 17, 1897 to Miss Daisy Ellis and she with two children survive. Mr. Long had lived all his life in this city and was a young man universally loved and respected. He was for some time deputy county treasurer going to that office from the Citizen's National Bank. He had many warm friends by his manly character and genial personality and his death, though not unexpected comes with telling force to them. - typed by kbz
